Betty + Craig are getting hitched today

Betty and Craig are getting married this Seafair weekend at the chapel at St. Ignatius on the Seattle University Campus then an Island inspired reception at the Harbor Club in downtown Seattle.

I get to work with some of my closest friends in the wedding biz - Joe and Jill of Joe & Jill Photography and Laura of Edit 1 Media. I ADORE Betty and Craig and have been looking forward to this day now for a year and a half since we first met and I came on board to help with their plans. Wanted to share a few of their engagement pics from Joe and Jill. A full post will come after the day as we have lots of surprises for their guests and I don't want to give anything away. Other vendors I am thrilled to have on board are Kevin Bradford, Bella Umbrella, Emerald City Productions, Creative Ice, Paper Moxie, New Renaissance Cakes and Fran's Chocolates.

Audra + Chris are getting hitched today at Corson Building

Audra and Chris are getting married today at the Corson Building in Georgetown. Corson was created by acclaimed chef and owner Matt Dillon as a true farm to table restaurant experience. An old cement building nestled under an overpass with a train crossing running through the back and the chance of airplanes flying into Boeing Field overhead it is an unlikely oasis. Lush gardens, Italian globe lights strung on the lawn and a charming brick patio are just some of the features that make this venue feel warm and inviting.

A few pics to share from their engagement session with the fabulous Jenny Jimenez. I could not be more thrilled to have another Jenny J wedding! In true Seattle fashion it poured (and I mean poured!) the day of their shoot so Jenny took these gorgeous shots at their historic Capitol Hill condo.

What are Audra and Chris most excited about with Corson? The food of course! We visited Dillon's other restaurant Sitka & Spruce in the beautiful Melrose Market atop Cap Hill for an amazing lunch of fresh halibut, raw olives and warm dates with homemade yogurt, sea salt and honey and talked menu ideas with Dillon. The final menu served today will be a surprise to Audra and Chris and their intimate wedding of 65 guests. Other talented vendors bringing the day together is uber talented florist Katherine Andersen of Marigold + Mint (also located in Melrose Market), macaroons from Honore Bakery in Ballard and a mouth watering lemon citron cake from Creme de la Creme.

Both Audra and Chris are talented artists and Audra hand painted a drawing of the two of them at Corson Building for their invitations which I adore. You may notice chickens in the drawing, yes, we will have some chickens roaming around too! Heres to one of the sweetest couples I know on their wedding day! See you soon.

Fall charm wedding

Johanna and Chad were married on a beautiful Fall day last November at the historic Rainier Club, nestled in the financial district of downtown Seattle with a park like setting amidst neighboring corporate architecture. The Rainier Club stands out with its dramatic brick and tall paned windows and once inside it is more like a mansion that guests get to explore than a venue. With several floors including sleeping rooms where the wedding party and couple stayed for the weekend, it really feels like a cozy home, albeit a grand one. Johanna and Chad are a fun loving adventurous couple that love to travel and be outdoors. They wanted to blend nature and elegance and the club was the perfect setting to do so. Their wedding was filled with warm and natural colors and elements that spoke to them including tall curly willow, rustic mercury glass, an abundance of in-season blooms and candlelight, hot apple cider, a campfire inspired s'mores bar, coffee bean favors and much more. Gorgeous photos taken by my friends Sarah and Chris Rhoads tell the story of their day.

The night before the wedding it was dark and stormy and when morning came fortunately so did the sun, giving Johanna and Chad the perfect Fall day. Just in case we had vintage umbrellas and bright red Hunter boots on hand because you just never know living in the Northwest. Johanna's delicate bouquet created by Julie Borrud of Bella Rugosa, remains one of my favorite bridal bouquets with its timeless vintage appeal.

Johanna and Chad's gifts for the guys have to be the most unique groomsmen gifts I have seen. Bobble heads with an uncanny resemblance to each groomsmen. Hilarious. Funky striped socks and patron tequila also rounded out the gifts.

A different room in the club was used for each event during the wedding. The ceremony began in the Cutter Room, lined with tall windows and an ornate fireplace gracing the front. Deep red rose petals and clusters of candle luminaries lined the aisle way with tiered votives adorning the window sills and mantle. Large copper stands filled with tall curly willow and smoke bush flanked the couple. Sheryl Bracken with Paper Moxie designed hanging programs from each chair and guests sipped on hot apple cider as they took their seats and the sun set. Music was an important element for Johanna and Chad. They wanted live piano for the ceremony but not your typical Pachelbel Canon in D to be performed. Talented pianist Cara Hill blew me away playing their requested songs by Coldplay, The Cure and Depech Mode. Pastor and good friend of mine, Rich Sclafani, gave a heart warming ceremony about the couple not leaving many dry eyes in the house.

Guests moved to the ballroom for cocktail hour with tall ceilings, a veranda and a grand fireplace over ten feet tall. This room would later house dessert and dancing to finish the evening. Dinner was held on another floor where guests walked into an ornate dining room with lush curtains, inviting tables with shimmering beige linens, dark fruitwood chivari chairs and centerpieces with mercury glass, candlelight and clusters of floral ranging from deep red to a vibrant yellow marigold.

During dancing guests frequented the s'mores bar and jumped in the photobooth by Sarah and Chris. Before saying farewell guest grabbed burlap bag favors filled with fragrant coffee beans and valet tags with well wishes were waiting in each guests car along with bottled water to send them on their way.

Congratulations Johanna and Chad. It was an evening to remember!

Lyndsay and Kelly are getting hitched tomorrow

My dear friends Lyndsay and Kelly are getting married tomorrow at Palace Ballroom, one of my favorite downtown venues and caterer. An urban Fall wedding with an emphasis on food, cheer and family. This wedding is very close to my heart because I am maid of honor and Lyndsay is more like a sister than anything else. I could not be happier for her. Kelly is her other half in every sense and the two of them together exude happiness and the type of relationship we all strive for.

One area where me and Lyndsay differ is that she is a huge sports FANATIC and lucky for her so is Kelly. They have season tickets to the Seahawks and each game is quite a production, from getting to the tailgating lots at the crack of dawn to grilling breakfast on the truck complete with a sofa and flat screen tv in the back. It is no laughing matter when it comes to their home team dedication so it was only fitting that their engagement session take place doing just that. Matthew Sumi of Flowertoss Photography met Lyndsay and Kelly down by Qwest Field and they had a blast taking pics, having some breakfast and laughing uncontrollably. Friends and family joined them for the festivities making it one of the most unique engagement sessions and my personal favorite.

Fall being Lyndsay's favorite season is the perfect backdrop for their affair. Colors ranging from rusty orange and chocolate brown to crip navy blue set the tone. Vintage umbrella's from my go to shop, Bella Umbrella, will act as accessories and possibly a necessary prop during photos ranging in a variety of colors and patterns. Hand picked antique jewelry and handbags by Lyndsay will adorn the girls while the guys sport chocolate brown suspenders and orange button dahlia boutonnieres created by talented florist, Julie Borrud of Bella Rugosa. At Palace Ballroom an abundance of candle luminaries accented by delicate orange mokara orchids, a heavenly dessert bar and homemade salted caramel favors will be in tow. Yes, Fall is in the air.

Congrats Lyndsay and Kelly! I can't wait for tomorrow to be here.

Get Hitched Give Hope

Seattle's premier bridal giving event, Get Hitched Give Hope is back for its third year. Held at the acclaimed Four Seasons Hotel in downtown Seattle, the event is where you get gorgeous goods for your wedding by giving back. A swanky-cool cocktail party, the kind that gives you an excuse to buy new shoes, amazing appetizers, raffle and silent auction items donated from top wedding professionals. This event is near and dear to my heart as I helped found it with a group of amazing women in the wedding biz.

It seems as though cancer has touched the lives of everyone, in some way. This is why Get Hitched, Give Hope, a non-profit organization have chosen the Making Memories Foundation as their charity to support. 1 in 8 women will develop invasive breast cancer and 1 in 100 breast cancer cases are in men. Over 40,000 men and women will lose their lives to breast cancer this year in America alone; that's 40,000 wishes that we can help to grant. The family's first trip to Disneyworld. A long overdue family reunion. Their goal is to raise $50,000 to grant wishes for stage IV breast cancer patients and their families. Laina and Ray's wedding sneak peek + video

Laina and Ray were married over Memorial Day Weekend on a drizzly Spring Seattle day at Herban Feast Catering's urban oasis Sodo Park. A full post of their day will be coming but in the mean time I wanted to share a few photos from the talented Grace and Hun Kim of GH Kim Photography and their wedding highlight video by Moses Lee of DvPixl Films.

Laina and I worked together mostly via phone and email and a couple of marathon planning weekends since she and Ray live in bustling New York City. Laina grew up in Seattle and it was important to have her wedding take place in her hometown. We instantly connected despite the distance and everytime we talked it was a joy to hear Laina's excitement and ideas about her wedding day.

Laina and Ray are a truly stylish couple, chic and sophisticated from their wardrobe, apartment and the look they wanted for their wedding. When it came time to bring Laina's inspirations to life I looked to friend and talented designer, Steven Moore. From the fist time Laina and Steve met they were so in sync with their style and in the process Steven became great friends with both Laina and Ray. Steven transformed the space into an artful, eclectic wonderland with elements of fabric flags strung across the tables, moss, birch, mercery glass, hundreds of vintage bottles, lush cream and green floral, tall curly willow and a dreamy candy bar...just to name a few.

Marly and Kevin are getting hitched today

Marly and Kevin are getting married today at Broadmoor Golf Club, a historic and pristine venue in the Madison Park neighborhood of Seattle. Nestled amongst lush golf greens with a crisp white finish to the building, the club has a rich history dating back to 1924. It became the perfect backdrop for the intimate fall wedding that Marly and Kevin dreamed of.

Elements of manzanita branches, moss, bird cages, rich floral colors of burnt orange, copper, rust, vibrant red and pops of yellow designed by Bella Rugosa and bird inspired stationary by Paper Moxie will transform the space. Marly is from Brazil and we will be celebrating her heritage with live Brazilian music, Brazil's national drink, Caipirinha, made with cachaça sugar and lime and of course Brazilian coffee. Marly and Kevin are an outgoing couple, madly in love, with a zest for life. I look forward to helping them celebrate their union today with family and friends.

Stephanie and Matt are getting hitched tomorrow

It is a busy weekend in wedding land...I am getting ready to hit the road for Stephanie and Matt's wedding tomorrow at Semiahmoo Resort in Blaine, Washington by the Canadian border. A serene waterfront tented property that is quintessential Northwest. Engagement photos by the dynamic brother team of Gabriel Boone Photography.

I have been working with Steph and Matt for over a year now to plan their celebration and couldn't be happier to see it all come together this weekend. We first met in 2008 when Steph was a bridesmaid in Erin and Michael's Leavenworth wedding that I had helped with. I get to see Erin this weekend as she is a bridesmaid now in Steph's wedding.

Steph and Matt couldn't be a better match for one another and are true partners in everything they do. I have to also mention that Steph wins my 'most organized bride' award. Her and I are so similar in how we think - we both have a fondness for spreadsheets, to do lists...we think they are fun! :)

The weekend will start today with a welcome party followed by a bonfire on the beach. The theme of the wedding is vintage honey and wheat. Design genius and good friend of mine, Steven Moore will be providing the decor. Other details include custom stationary with pops of yellow, a delectable dessert bar, vintage umbrellas and croquet...will share more after the day.

Lili and Jacob are getting hitched today

Jacob and Lili are getting married today at Robinswood House, a quaint garden venue in Bellevue. A jem tucked away from the city with lush floral and different areas for guests to explore. Engagement photos by Matthew Sumi of Flowertoss Photography. I heart his photography.

Lili is one of the most stylish gals I know, not to mention positive, always smiling and always a joy to be around. From her wardrobe to her home decorating she is ultra creative. Of course I expected this to flow through the wedding and we have had such fun together designing an outdoor vintage garden wedding with an Anthropologie flair. Lili designed her own invitations, sewed custom napkins for each guest, made burlap table runners and the list goes on. Excited to see it all come together today. We have a fabulous team of vendors on board including my good friends Julie Borrud of Bella Rugosa and DJ Darrell Christel and my sister Alana is making all of the ladies gorgeous with her mad hair and makeup styling skills.

Im off to start the day by picking up a dozen pies from Sugar Shack Baking Company. If you haven't been there before their cakes are amazing!

Take a peek at the beautiful same day edit video that the uber talented Casey and Danielle of Mind Castle Studios presented at Lisa and Brian's wedding reception at the Seattle Tennis Club. It is heartfelt and chalk full of emotion. I love that they wove in officiant Rich Sclafani's meaningful messages from the ceremony and I can't get the song out of my head - had to download it ("White Dress" by Ben Rector). I am pretty much smitten with this video. Could watch it again and again....will share more details of their wedding in a later post.

Lisa and Brian are getting married today at the lakefront Seattle Tennis Club, one of my all time favorite venues in Seattle. We have an amazing team on vendors on board including Chris and Sarah of Sarah Rhoads Photographers and videography team, Casey and Danielle of Mind Castle Studios and decor from Steven Moore. The creativity will be bursting at the seams with this group and I can't wait to see the outcome!

Planning a celebration over 4th of July weekend is always a gamble in the northwest but today calls for sun and I think these clouds will burn off. I am forever an optimist. Of course you can never be too prepared so I rented some gorgeous vintage umbrellas from the lovely Jodell at Bella Umbrella in Ballard in shades of ivory and taupe to compliment the wedding design of a JCrew inspired classic outdoor summer celebration. All floral will be in shades of whites, ivory and pale green along with bridesmaids in shimmering celadon green taffeta bridesmaids dresses and groomsmen in tailored khaki suits.

Lisa and Brian are sweethearts and a dream couple to work with. Always positive and enjoying the planning process even when it is from thousands of miles away. We started planning over a year ago and last fall Lisa's job with Boeing relocated her to Southern Italy near a fishing town called Bari, which is actually where my grandfather was born and next on my list to visit when I return for another Italian adventure. Guests have traveled in from all over the country including their hometowns in the midwest to see this beautiful couple become husband and wife. I am excited to be a part of that. Okay. Enough chit chat. I have to get going. Will post more after the day.

I am back from Italy....actually have been since late May but am behind on my blogging now that wedding season is also here. Apologies! The trip was truly amazing and I will be posting about it soon but in the mean time I wanted to write a follow up note about Laura and Dave's Golden Gardens beach wedding that took place just two days before I left for the trip. It was a magical day filled with laughter, music and poetry. Husband and wife photography team Heather and Jon of One Love Photo captured stunning photos of the couple and their celebration and today their wedding was featured on Rock 'n Roll Bride, a favorite style blog of mine so wanted to share. Off to the Italian Countryside for a little adventure

Im turning the big 3-0 this month and am going to celebrate while sipping vino on the hills of the Italian countryside...not too shabby. My sis Alana and I are taking off tomorrow to visit our good friends Ashley and Jason who opened a culinary retreat in Italy a few years ago, La Tavola Marche, which resides in the region of Le Marche and neighbors Tuscany and Umbria.

Jason is an accomplished chef and Ashley comes from a background in hospitality. They made the move from New York City a few years ago for a new way of life and haven't looked back since. Ashley and Jason chose to move to Italy to celebrate life every day, every meal. Ashley says, “Why wait until we are ready to retire to do something like this? We wanted to live a life of quality and Italians more than anyone truly seize the day.” Their hard work has paid off and their 300-year old villa set on an agriturismo in the heart of a truffle valley with breathtaking hillside views has gained attention by travelers and press. For any honeymooners reading my blog they offer some fabulous packages including multi-course meals authentic to the region and cooking classes. Jason and Ashley are a part of the slow food movement. Everything is seasonal, local and homemade. You can learn more about their story here and follow their entertaining blog chalk filled with recipes, history and culture of the region and their day to day adventures.

About the Le Marche region...

Travelers who want the best of central Italy are now heading for Le Marche, the third region, alongside Tuscany and Umbria that makes up the area. The region lies on the eastern side of central Italy, between the Adriatic Sea and the high Apennine mountains. Much of it remains unspoiled by mass tourism. The Adriatic coast has been known as a sun and beach mecca for years. However, inland, perhaps more so than anywhere else in central Italy, you will find places where time really has stood still.

Laura & Dave are getting hitched this weekend

My first wedding of the year is approaching...Laura Totten of Blissed Photography is one of my dearest friends in the wedding community and it just so happens she is marrying the love of her life Dave this Saturday on the white sand beaches at Golden Gardens on the Ballard waterfront and...I get to be a part of it! I am beyond thrilled to have been brought on to help with plans and can't wait to see Laura on her wedding day. Now its her turn to be the blushing bride. Laura is sweet, incredibly genuine and a lover of life not to mention an amazing photographer. She found her match in Dave from the moment they met. It is only fitting that the wedding celebration take place at Golden Gardens as it's also where Dave proposed. These photos are from that moment.

Old World Library Wedding

Allison and James were married in September on a gorgeous sunny day without a cloud in the sky. In fact it was on the hot side for that time of year. As evening fell we were treated to a shooting star during toasts only adding to the whimsical atmosphere of the wedding. I will walk through some of the fun details and moments...Photography by the talented brothers of Gabriel Boone Photography. Check out Edit 1 Media's gorgeous highlight reel shot in super 8 MM film with a vintage timeless look and the current issue of Seattle Metropolitan Bride and Groom Magazine which featured their wedding.

Allison and James along with their families were truly a pleasure to help. Most of our planning took place over the phone and email since Allison and James were living in Boston where Allison was finishing her law degree at Harvard. They met one another during college and have an inspiring love story that has withstood James' deployment to Iraq while in the Army over the years. To celebrate the place where they first met Gabe flew to Boston and took their engagement pics at Harvard's sprawling campus.

Their love of academics played into the theme of the wedding being an elegant dinner in an old library. The setting was Allison's grade school (and 9-12 girls boarding school), Annie Wright, located near the Tacoma waterfront with an East Cost regal feel. When you step foot in the historical building you are met with an elegant staircase and foyer with dark rich wood complimenting the wedding color palette of mahogany, pale green and ivory. Chris Griffith, a gifted stationary designer out of Northern California and good friend of mine, incorporated the school throughout the invitations and wedding day paper goodies.

The girls began the morning at the school's bridal suite with hair and makeup styling by Salon Maison. Allison's delicate and flowing Vera Wang gown and pale green bridesmaids dresses also by Vera paired nicely with the guys classic black tuxes from Tuxedo Club.

The ceremony was held in the schools chapel tucked away with dramatic vaulted wood beamed ceilings and tall cozy pews. Taper candles were flanked down the aisle for a warm and inviting glow. I had to include photos of the adorable little ones that took part in the ceremony. Steven Moore made ivy head pieces to adorn the sweet flower girls.

Amazing designer, Steven Moore, who I just adore partnering with, transformed the brick courtyard and garden into the old world library that Allison and James were inspired by in their love of academia. Long dramatic tables had sheets of classical music down the center with stacks of leather bound and faded vintage books, dripping pillar candles, fountain pens, quills, lush green hydrangea, creamy white roses and green Boston ivy vines. All of these elements came together beautifully to bring the vision to life.

Tacoma-based Gallucci’s Catering outdid themselves serving a fresh seasonal menu. Guests dined on a duet entree of grilled salmon with blistered tomato and lemon risotto paired with peppered sirloin and yukon gold mashed potatoes with asparagus.

For dessert guests were treated to a towering four foot high cake with a fluffy ivory buttercream design from Celebrity Cake Studio. The cake had alternating layers of chocolate éclair and vanilla cake with raspberry filling.

To entertain the younger guests Steven designed a delicious candy bar and kids activity table with a coloring station with a story book theme.

James' family has a fruit orchard in Wenatchee so to incorporate it Steven created a farmers market in the garden. Wooden apple crates and bushel baskets were filled to the brim with fruit. Chris Griffith designed custom logo signage and kraft paper bags for guests to 'shop' and take home a variety of fresh apples and pears straight from the family farm. Refreshing Washington apple martini's were also served with apples from the orchard.

As the sun set the upbeat Second Wind Band kept guests on the dance floor and Galluci's fired up a mouth watering late night snack of spicy sliders, sweet potato fries and mini chocolate milk shakes which were a big hit.

Congratulations Allison and James! It was a day that will stay with my always.

Lakefront Tennis Club Wedding

Jen and Theo were married in August at the picturesque Seattle Tennis Club set on Lake Washington in the Madison Park neighborhood. With a crisp view of Mount Rainier in the background it was the perfect setting for their Seattle destination wedding. Family and friends flew in from around the country for a weekend filled of activity. What makes their celebration very dear to my heart is that they are two of my closest friends and not only was I the planner, I was also the maid of honor. My sister Alana, was a bridesmaid as well and my husband and parents were guests. It was a family affair and such an amazing day to be a part of.

Now onto details and the fabulous team of vendors involved. Photos by my talented friend Laura Totten.

Jen and Theo were a dream couple to help. They are madly in love and wanted the day to reflect each of them and embrace their family and friends. Theo is an architect and loves clean modern design while Jen leans towards a romantic style. She is a "girly girl" through and through and I lover her for it. We blended both elements throughout the details from her flowing Alvina Valenta gown and abundance of hydrangea floral on her stationary and on guest tables created by Bella Rugosa to the sleek Seattle skyline logo stamped on CD favors doubling as escort cards and the structured bite size dessert bar by Jen's Desserts.

The morning began at the stylish W Hotel in downtown Seattle where Alana (my sis) who is a hair and makeup artist (and normally my wedding day assistant) worked her magic with Jen as we relaxed in the room drinking Starbucks and listening to some classic Britney Spears.

After taking pics at the hotel we hopped in a shuttle to Pike Place Market and Post Alley, a special area of the city to Jen and Theo where they enjoy restaurants, shopping and art.

Invitation designer, Chris Griffith, made an elegant stationary suite featuring hydrangeas and their color palate of chartreuse green, black and white, which paired beautifully with the atmosphere in the Tennis Club. Chris is uber creative and so meticulous in her work. I love that even the stamp is custom.

The ceremony took place on the club's waterfront lawn. Bright green kermit mums were placed on chairs and the aisle was completely covered in white rose petals for a lush look.

After the i do's guests mingled on the lawn, sipped on fresh mojitos and nibbled on dungeness crab cakes.

The sun started to set and guests were called to dinner inside the club's ballroom for a feast of filet mignon and halibut.

Their dessert bar is my favorite to date! Every creation Jen's Desserts makes is delish and has its own artistic touch. Guests devoured the array of cake, mini chocolate fudge cupcakes, key lime cheesecake tarts and sugar cookies.

Austin Beaver spun their favorite records and kept the crowd dancing late into the night while Laura opened up a photo booth with plenty of Seahawks props and sliders and sweet potato fries were dished up. Jen's adorable nephew even gave us a break dancing performance which was a huge hit!

Huge kudos to my assistant Tanya for coordinating the day and doing such a fabulous job!

I love you guys! Can't wait to meet the new addition to your family this Spring and be an auntie.

Happy New Year

As a new year is here I look back fondly on the past year. Fabulous couples and families that I had the chance to know, talented vendors I had the opportunity to work with and an amazing husband, family and friends that I couldn't do without. With a fresh new year I am energized for more experiences and relationships to come.

One of my biggest supporters in the wedding biz is my dear friend and fellow planner Lisa Chambers. Lisa and I share a studio in the heart of Greenlake and while we have separate companies, we are each others shoulder to lean on, constantly encouraging the other and taking on new challenges to grow in our field. It is a unique relationship that I cherish.

Recently some of our friends in the biz helped with a few things to spruce up the studio. Laurel McConnell stopped by for lunch and to snap a few pics. We wanted to name the studio itself and Janet Maples of Izzy Girl wedding stationary designed the "studio i do" logo which we adore. To top it off Julie Borrud of Bella Rugosa created beautiful holiday arrangements to hang outside the door. We are two lucky gals to call such talented people friends! Here are a few pics to share.

Sodo Park Wedding

Last week I wrote about Diane and Fred's beach party which kicked off their memorable wedding weekend in July. It is a pleasure to know them and to have been a part of their celebration. From engagement to the day Diane and Fred made their wedding a reflection of themselves and what is most important to them, their family and friends (and their pups). We started planning their intimate affair a year and some months ago and I am so pleased with the team of vendors that we put together. I consider all to be outstanding in their craft as well as good friends. The following is a glimpse into the details of their day paired with stunning photos courtesy of Joe & Jill Photography.

Diane and Fred have an affinity to the timeless elegance of the Fairmont Olympic Hotel making it a natural setting to get ready and take photos. Amongst the select boutiques in the hotel, Diane fell in love with the gowns of couture designer, Luly Yang. Her dress was nothing short of breathtaking, the back alone being a work of art. I am in awe. Not to mention how gorgeous Diane is. What flawless skin.

Diane and Fred have an impeccably designed condo with a retro modern look in the heart of Belltown and love living in the city with its abundance of award winning cuisine and art. They have style and appreciate fine food and wine. Their venue needed to have interesting architecture, amazing cuisine and make them feel at home for an intimate group of sixty guests. Sodo Park, owned by Herban Feast Catering's BJ Duft, encompassed everything on their wish list. Its dramatic ceilings, distressed wooden beams and garden patio brings the outdoors in while being set in an industrial patch of downtown. Every event I plan with Herban Feast blows me away from their attention to detail and inventive menus to the green methods of operation they stand by.

Annemarie Juhlian officiated the ceremony and brought her warm and unique approach to the service representing Diane and Fred. Their kids aka pups were an important part of the ceremony and you will notice inspired the stationary designs created by Janet Maples of Izzy Girl.

Diane and Fred's design vision was for a vibrant, eclectic summer look to transform the space in bright hues of green and blue. I knew they would have a special connection with designer Steven Moore. Steven is a design maven and there is simply nothing that he can't dream up and bring to fruition. For those that have been to Sodo Park before it is a large venue with incredibly tall ceilings. For their guest size it could potentially feel too expansive. Steven solved that issue by creating an intimate space with one long dramatic table going down the center of the venue. It is difficult to name my favorite element of the table design, at every turn you notice a new detail that brings the design to life...the hand-sewn rich blue table runner that popped against the white linens, lush green hydrangea and delicate tropical phalaenopsis orchids displayed in varying glassware, colorful candle sticks, glassy baby votives, fresh limes and loose cymbidium orchid blooms...to name a few.

Chef Dahlis had commented that Diane and Fred's wedding was one of his favorites of the summer with the menu playing such an important role. Over tastings and a few trips to their restaurant, Fresh Bistro Chef designed a menu to give their guests a culinary experience. During cocktail hour an elaborate Northwest raw bar was presented with shucked oysters, sauteed penn cove mussels and manilla clams, chilled prawns and smoked scallops. Trays of chilled gazpacho shooters,sweet potato and dungeness crabcakes and peking duck fresh rolls were also passed. Not forgetting drinks, mojitos with sprigs of apple mint straight from BJ's home garden and blue lagoon martinis were a fun and tasty option brining in their bright color palate of blue and green. Dinner was served family style at the large table, encouraging conversation while sharing platters of decadent beef wellington, cedar plank salmon and jumbo pan seared scallops.

Loving sweets just as much as the main course, a colorful cake with hand-made sugar roses replicating the back of Diane's gown was designed by Bonnie Lyons of New Renaissance Cakes. Alternating flavor tiers included citron cake (white satin cake with a layer of lemon curd and lemon white chocolate mousse) and coconut cake (coconut white cake with a layer of coconut cream and and coconut whipped cream). Guests also dipped into the dark chocolate fountain with skewers of fresh fruit, pound cake, marshmallows and salty pretzels. Delish. Just in cases anyone was still hungry after the feast and working up a sweat on the dance floor, a late night snack station of Moroccan lamb sliders and sweet potato fries completed the menu.

Laura and Chris of Edit 1 Media presented their signature same day edit video which delighted the couple and their guests. Afterwards DJ Darrell Christel who I have worked with for many years and does such a fabulous job, spinned their favorite tunes and Joe & Jill opened up the photobooth. I even jumped in for a few pics below with Diane and my sister/assistant extraordinaire Alana.

As the sun set, Joe and Jill took Diane and Fred to the outdoor patio for some glamorous evening shots. I have to point out the gorgeous jewelry that Brandy Thibault of Abaloria designed for Diane to wear at the reception. To die for.

An amazing couple. An amazing day.

Day at the beach

Diane and Fred are an amazing couple and I couldn't help but feel their excitement about their wedding day everytime we talked. Friends and family flew in from their home towns on the East Coast for an intimate weekend to experience all the Pacific Northwest has to offer. The weekend started with a beach reception on the Ballard waterfront at the Bathhouse on Shilshole Bay, a restored brick building with oodles of charm.

Herban Feast Catering created a delicious menu with an ode to East Coast crab bakes. Dungeness crab legs, smoked sausage, corn on the cob and red potatoes were served piled-high on family style platters. For dessert a fresh seasonal berry & stone fruit crisp with bistro vanilla ice cream. Diane and Fred love their karaoke so it was only fitting that we gave their guests a chance to belt out songs with the help of Event Source Northwest. There is nothing more entertaining then sangria plus classic 80's karaoke tunes.

Joe & Jill came along to capture the party. I will post the wedding day next.

Down home Leavenworth wedding

Steph and Trev are adorable and hilarious with infectious smiles and are two of the most genuine and sweet people I know. Period. They have tight knit families, a great group of friends and are each others other half. As high school sweet hearts their relationship has grown and taken them through college and now into the working world. Both are in the field of web and software design and brought a creative and funky flair to their down home July wedding in Leavenworth, Washington.

I had the pleasure of meeting their photographer Jenny Jimenez through these two and Jenny and I hit if off right away. She brought along her husband Robin for the weekend and they are just my kind of people. Oh yeah...and her photos are stunning! You can read Jenny's write up here.

The location was Stephanie's grandparents home in the valley of Leavenworth nestled in between breathtaking mountains. Steph's grandpa, Papa Jim, who everyone calls him by, is a character. Full of energy and a zest for life. His home sits on miticulously cared for grounds, more like a park than a backyard and he had spent the past year getting everything just perfect for his granddaughter.

The weekend started with family and wedding party arriving Thursday and taking a "lazy river" inner tube float complete with a tube just for beverages. Smart thinkin. The rehearsal took place the next day followed by an italian catered dinner on the property. I should note that it was quite toasty outside - topping 104 degrees. Now for us Seattleites we aren't used to that kind of heat. It wasn't windy though which is rare in Leavenworth, especially in a valley. The wedding morning we woke up to sun but again no wind and I thanked mother nature. I must have thanked too soon as after setting up the reception the wind decided to make an appearance and quite a big one knocking over centerpieces, taking linens right off tables...but as we do in the world of weddings we make it work. Wind couldn't get Steph and Trev down and we found creative solutions, just no candle was lit that night. I wouldn't give up, trying to light them all night, it was like birthday candles going out as soon as they would light. Pretty comical actually. My sister who assisted me that weekend finally had to pry the lighter from my hands.

Steph's dress was perfect for her. We went gown shopping together and found a great tea-length dress at La Belle Elaines that Steph had customized by the fabulous Trish Jens to her dream dress along with a delicate birdcage veil. Steph picked out comfy and stylish dresses for her girls at Anthropologie, in a dark grey blue shade which paired nicely with slate gray vests and slacks for Trev and his guys from my fav rental shop, Tuxedo Club, in Kirkland.

Florist Patti Bosket with Au Natural, who actually lives just down the road from them, created colorful and vibrant bouquets and decor.

First glimpse...my favorite part of the day when they see each other in private.

In leu of a floral boutonnière they opted for mini rubber chickens...gotta love it.

As guest reached the last stretch of windy road to the property they were met with signs telling the story of how Steph and Trev met, fell in love and got to this day.

Steph designed and hand made all of the paper creations from save-the-dates to programs with their faces on the front and the program info on the back, also serving as fans. They were a big hit with guests.

Favorite save-the-date...honoring being in Bavarian Village.

Raspberry vodka lemonade to quench the thirst in one hundred plus degree weather = priceless

Wenatchee-based Ravenous Catering created a down home menu consisting of several appetizer stations. Barbeque baby back ribs, country meatballs, cheddar ale spread and roasted potato salad to name a few.

Steph and Trev get the award for most inventive and wacky place cards and table signs. Bald celebrities! Some of the lucky celebs to make up the tables were Andre Agassi, Bruce Willis and my personal fav, Ms. Brittany Spears during her not so good days.

Dinner tables with gray linens and bright floral set in antique blue mason jars and vintage milk glass were placed under the three hexagon high peaked tents illuminated by delicate globe paper string lights.

Guests took home CD favors stamped with Steph and Trev's logo.

Do you remember your mom making fun fetti birthday cakes for you as a kid? I sure do and so do Steph and Trev. That is exactly what they wanted for dessert and I have never seen cupcakes fly off the table so fast. Yumm.

Papa Jim sang a song for Steph and Trev at the reception and earlier sang her down the aisle. A local celebrity in town, performing country music, Papa Jim's Johnny Cash inspired deep soulful songs were an endearing gift to the couple.

Wenatchee-based classic rock band Salmon Dave Band, kept guests dancing the night away belting out Alabama, Eagles and Led Zeppelin, all the great bands of our parents generation that we have grown up listening to.

The night came to a close with a photobooth for guests by Jenny and Robin and a hot dog station with all the fixins. A fun filled weekend that I won't soon forget.

Johanna and Chad are getting hitched today

Johanna and Chad are getting married on this Fall day at the historic and grand Rainier Club in downtown Seattle. True to the Pacific Northwest it is raining yet once inside the club doors it will feel warm and cozy surrounded by candlelight and rich browns, reds and golds that makeup their design palate. I stopped by Bella Umbrella's boutique in Ballard yesterday to pick up some gorgeous (and useful!) vintage parasols for the wedding party to trek outside for some photos along with a pair of bright red rain boots that Johanna found for a perfect pairing. Ballard Waterfront Wedding

A follow up to my earlier post, my friend Ginny married the love of her life, Gough, in late June on the Ballard Waterfront at The Canal overlooking The Locks. Ginny and I have known each other since pre-school and our mothers are best friends. We all grew up in Ballard so it was only fitting for them to get married in the neighborhood. I have so many childhood memories with Ginny in them, from spending holidays together to tea parties in the backyard. Their wedding was especially dear to my heart.

We began planning about a year and a half ago and had such fun with Ginny's background in interior design and her creative personal style not to mention her mom Glenda's! They are both talented artists, not afraid of color and being bold. I introduced Ginny to Sarah Rhoads for photography and they had an instant connection and Sarah's fashion forward images capture Ginny's personality to a T. I love that Ginny and her mom have huge smiles throughout the day, always positive, energetic and loving life. It was an honor to plan and be in attendance with my family present, husband, sister and mom, dancing the night away.

Lisa & Chris are getting hitched tomorrow

Just one month ago my friend and fabulous photographer Sarah Rhoads introduced me to Lisa and Chris who were in need of someone to jump in and help with the remaining details and ease their wedding planning jitters. What a great couple they are! I instantly felt at home with Lisa and Chris at our initial consult at my studio, laughing and learning about how they met and the wedding they have been working hard to plan. They enjoy life, always smiling, are madly in love and are excited to share the day with family and friends. Lisa is a true fashionista and a talented hair and makeup artist so already had great ideas to bring her inspiration of modern and vintage blended style in rich tones of red, gold and black. Their venue, Hotel Deca, located in the University District provides the perfect backdrop, and with some final design choices that I am bringing in it is going to be a beautiful and intimate Fall affair. Diane and Fred were married in July at SoDo Park, owned by the amazing Herban Feast Catering. It was an incredible wedding to be a part of and I just adore Diane and Fred. April wedding in Capitol Hill

Kelsey and Kyle were married in April at Pravda Studios in the artsy neighborhood of Capitol Hill. They were such fun to work with, always with a smile and air of excitement about their wedding day. I first met Kelsey and Kyle when I helped with her bridesmaid Erin's wedding last summer and was thrilled when she asked me to take part in hers. From that point on we had a blast making plans and catching up over coffee, cocktails or at her house with her adorable and hyper dog. They are a perfect match for one another and I look forward to keeping in touch over the years.

Pravda was the perfect urban setting mixed with a natural feel with large windows and rustic wood floors, a blank canvas that was transformed with a chic color palate of black, white and green. Details included a bountiful cake buffet with fresh berries, all white delicate peony bouquets for Kelsey and the girls, intricate invitation and stationary design, a funky floral pattern linen and the comfy yet sophisticated soft seating area that Bella Rugosa created and guests enjoyed throughout the evening.

Jen and Theo sneak peek

A follow up to my below post about Jen and Theo, who were married at the Seattle Tennis Club a couple weeks ago. Both myself and my little sis Alana were in the wedding party and it was such fun to be on the other side while my rock star assistant Tanya took care of the logistics that day. Sprinkles early that morning turned into rays of sunshine and it could not have been more perfect! We started at the W Hotel in downtown Seattle and headed to Pike Place with Laura Totten for photos before going to the club. Jen was the most gorgeous bride in her Alvina Valenta gown which is my personal favorite of all time. So romantic and flowing. Alana, who is not only my fabulous assistant/sister but also a talented hair and makeup stylist, took care of Jen and Theo's looks. What a beautiful couple they are! Jen and Theo are getting hitched tomorrow!

Jen and Theo, two of my favorite people and dearest friends, are getting married tomorrow at the Seattle Tennis Club nestled on the Madison Park waterfront and this time I get to be IN the wedding! We have been planning together for the past year and a half and can't believe the day is here. I will be sure to write a post about all the details of their wedding in the coming weeks. Here are a few pics from their engagement shoot with Laura Totten in Freemont where they had their first date. Their furry kids, Stella and Georgia, came along. What a cute family!

Mountain Springs Lodge Wedding

Last June Erin and Michael were married at Mountain Springs Lodge, just outside the quaint Bavarian town of Leavenworth in Eastern Washington. I know my post is belated being that it was over a year ago but I received photos in the mail this week from their fabulous photographer Heidi Michelle and love this couple so much that I wanted to share their day. Erin and I actually went to high school together and I was honored to have been a part of her wedding.

From Seattle, the lodge is a beautiful scenic two hour drive away in the mountains. It was the perfect setting for Erin and Michael's family and friends to celebrate a weekend of festivities. Guests stayed at the lodges various log cabins and enjoyed hikes, golfing and roaming the sprawling property.

Bright pops of corals and oranges from the flowers to the bridesmaids dresses and vintage umbrellas accented the lush green surroundings. Mason jars holding candles hung from trees and lined the paths, globe lights were strung around the hex style tent, place cards were along the wooden fence on clothes lines, wild flower seed packets were tucked into each place setting and clay pots filled with an abundance of floral served as centerpieces.

Urban Spring Wedding

Carey and Gary were married in late March (I know I am very behind on my blog posts!) on a beautiful day at Bethany Community Church, a new church with a sleek modern design in Greenlake, followed by a stylish reception at Palace Ballroom, known for their award winning cuisine by acclaimed chef Tom Douglas. Fabulous soft hydrangea and luminary decor from Bella Rugosa, a cake design worth drooling over by Divine Confections and Montana beef sliders to honor Carey's midwest upbringing were just a few of the highlights of their celebration.

My good friend and talented photographer Laura Totten captured their day starting off at one of my favorite hip boutique hotels in the heart of Belltown, Hotel Andra, and then to Queen Anne Parks in the neighborhod that Carey and Gary call home...

Recently I moved my business from a loft in Ballard to a new studio in Greenlake, a favorite neighborhood with lots to do and explore. I share the space with fellow planner and friend Lisa Chambers. The studio is located at 7303 Woodlawn Avenue NE, Seattle WA 98115. Just a block from the lake, restaurants and shopping. My goal is to walk around the lake every day - just need the weather to cooperate!

Joey Bowles, the outgoing and ultra artistic photographer behind Cosa Bella Foto stopped by the other day to chat and snap some great shots of the space. Hope you like it! From installing the floors ourselves (okay so our husbands did most of the work!) to many coats of paint it is a labor of love!

Dinner Party Wedding

Darcy and Matt were married on a cool and peaceful November day at the quaint and intimate Farm Kitchen, nestled in Poulsbo on an organic garden. Their vision of an intimate country chic dinner party came to life. I had the pleasure of working with my friend Laurel McConnell again and her colorful photos tell the story of their day. Props that came in handy were vintage parasoles from Bella Umbrella and an unexpected little frog that made an appearance. It was priceless!

I first wrote about Darcy and Matt last May featuring their engagement shoot with Laurel. They reside in New York City and Matt is a chef at a restaurant owned by Food Networks acclaimed chef, Bobby Flay. Cuisine played an instrumental part of their wedding as did thinking environmentally sound featuring a local organic menu and eco-friendly decor. Blending their love of the city with their love of the country. Farm Kitchen was the perfect setting and I truly adore owners Anne and Hollis who take great pride in their venue.

When it came to choosing floral and decor I instantly thought of Bella Signature Design. Not only does owner Daniela create stunning designs, she also lives on Bainbridge Island and loves the surrounding area and utilizes organic gardens and resources for her decor. Elements used included soy candles, manzanita branches, mini cymbidium orchids, plants, pears, lots and lots of dried peas and gorgeous green raw silk table runners and entry way panels! To compliment her designs Michelle Loretta of Mmm Paper designed modern stationary for the invites, programs, escort card tree and personalized menus. Black linens and chivari chairs enhanced the green decor and added to the urban side of the design.

Their intimate ceremony was lead by Reverend Mary Calhoun who I just adore! She created such a touching and heartfelt ceremony for them.

When it was time for dinner, the dining room was revealed to guests and they were invited to find their names on a beautiful tree of manzanita branches. Each name card was tied to a leaf favor from Still Life Gifts to take home and enjoy. Darcy found these unique favors that are made from real leaves dipped in copper.

Once again Herban Feast Catering outdid themselves and created a decadent fall menu for guests that Matt raved about, a compliment well given! Vegan gazpacho shooters and signature sweet potato crabcakes were passed during cocktail hour along with fresh pomegranate bellinis. Later guests dined on salad of organic greens with harvest crisp pears and hazelnuts and a choice of sundried tomato & olive crusted halibut drizzled with a roasted cherry tomato coulis or peppercorn crusted NY striploin bourguignon with thyme, mushrooms, pearl onions & pancetta.

For dessert local Bainbridge Island favorite, Blackbird Bakery, made a mouth watering almond butter cake with amaretto cream filling and a mascarpone finish with almonds. Delish!

After dinner guests mingled and enjoyed tunes by DJ Darrell Christel. Coldplay was a favorite!

Fall Wedding

Mina and Mark were married on a gorgeous fall day in late October at The Rainier Club, one of my favorite regal venues in Seattle. With its four stories of brick, tall paned windows, intricately designed rooms and unparallelled service it is a special venue indeed. Mina and Mark's vision was an intimate and romantic candle light ceremony and reception with exquisite food and entertainment.

Photos compliments of Kim and Adam Bamberg of La Vie Photography who are amazing and so much FUN to be around!

WOW! That is how I sum up the gorgeous bouquet that Julie Borrud of Bella Rugosa designed custom for Mina with delicate fuscia gloriosa lilies and ostrich feathers. Julie complimented the bridesmaids bouquets with gold cymbidium orchids and full deep red roses that went with the pashmina shawls Mina gifted to them. These rich colors were used throughout the wedding design.

Prior to the ceremony the happy couple and their wedding party took photos at Pike Place Market and Post Alley. The weather could not have been nicer for them!

Tiered votives and faux ice covered the many windows in the ceremony and reception rooms to create a warm glow as guests arrived.

After the ceremony signature red Italian Appletinis were passed. In case anyone would like to try the delicious recipe...shot Sour Apple Schnapps, 1/2 shot Amaretto, 1/2 shot Stoli Vanilla, splash cranberry juice, splash lime juice.

In the ballroom large hurricanes with floating candles and amber beads and clusters of orchids and roses topped beige bengaline linens.

Bonnie Lyons, owner of New Renaissance Cakes is simply a genius when it comes to cake design! She made the one of a kind off kilter cake which had four alternating tiers of bananas foster and chocolate cappuccino mousse.

Music was an important element and their DJ Darrell Christel had a gobo light of their initials made to shine on the dance floor during the festivities.

Late in the evening staff passed spicy slider burgers that hit the spot and before each guest parted they had their choice of peanut butter or red velvet cupcakes to satisfy their sweet tooth from Wink Cupcakes.

Tabletop Design in Seattle Metropolitan Bride & Groom Magazine

I am delighted to write that the Winter issue of Seattle Metropolitan Bride & Groom Magazine includes a tabletop design that I created along with the wonderful help of Julie Borrud with Bella Rugosa and Whitney Speir with Brown Sugar Design.

The inspiration was vintage meets modern with a sweet farmers market design. Yellow is one of my favorite colors and I love the combination with black and white for a crisp and bright palette. A bold canary yellow lamour table linen with accented butterfly napkins Julie sewed and sleek yet classic black chivari chairs set the tone. Vintage milk glass and bud vases were scattered on the table nestled in between a contemporary candleabra. Organic vibrant crimson and fuscia dahlias and green hydrangea from the farmers market and Julie's home garden filled the jars.

Whitney designed the perfect accenting menu cards to compliment the black and white china and place card favor tags that I tied around clusters of organic honey sticks from Pike Place Market. The menu featured a late summer feast of heirloom tomato gazpacho, grilled king salmon and for dessert wild blackberry cobbler with honey ice cream.

Deep Blue Wedding

BreAnna and Jesse were married atop the hills of Newcastle Golf Club with sweeping views and on this particular summer night a heat lightening storm! Not something we are used to in Seattle but the mysterious weather added an air of excitement. Although the chance of rain loomed it didn't worry BreAnna and Jesse one bit. Nothing could have upset the beautiful and intimate wedding they had.

BreAnna's favorite color is blue and we used it throughout the decor such as the lush centerpieces and bridal bouquet crafted by Bella Rugosa, personalized menus embellished with crystal by Invite Designer and the vibrant cobalt blue bridesmaids dresses. The crisp white of the tent and ivory table linens allowed the blue to really pop. Susan Boggie of That Take's the Cake designed a square tiered cake with details of BreAnna's gown and mini cupcake favors of the same flavor for guests to bring a 'slice' home.

As evening fell the sky turned a gorgeous dark shade of blue only to compliment the wedding even more. Despite some sprinkles, by the time the ceremony started guests were safely under the warm and inviting tent. The wonderful Reverend Ray married the sweet couple while guests sat comfortably at their dinner tables instead of a traditional ceremony setup. This made for a smooth and relaxing transition into the four course dinner they enjoyed. My good friend and DJ of my own wedding years ago, Darrell Christel, spinned their favorite tunes until guests wished them off with sparklers late in the night.

Golden Gardens Wedding

Megan and Ian were married on a sunny September day at Golden Gardens Bathhouse on the picturesque Ballard waterfront. They are an amazing couple and their celebration was truly one big love fest surrounded by friends and family who traveled from all over the country to be with them. Their inspiration was a relaxed yet elegant Irish pub with amazing food and drink, live music and cheer! There are so many details I want to share about their day...

Earlier this year I blogged about Megan and Ian's wedding plans and engagement shoot with Laurel. Laurel made the adorable save the date postcard pictured below which set the tone for their beach celebration. Having the wedding on the Ballard waterfront was important. They have a home there and love the character and history that it brings. I grew up just a minute or two from the beach myself and it is a special area.

Megan and her bridal party stayed at the Edgewater Hotel, an idyllic Northwest retreat. Erin Skipley gave the girls a flawless look with airbrush makeup and Bella Rugosa created stunning lush bouquets to fit Megan's natural style and pair with their chocolate brown J Crew dresses.

Ian and his guys opted for a classic preppy look with khaiki pants and navy blazers and met up at the Bathhouse along with the couples two adorable dogs to grab some fun shots before the girls arrived.

Megan and Ian's dogs played an important part of their ceremony. I am a HUGE dog person as well and couldn't help sharing these adorable photos!

How Megan and Ian came to meet their wonderful officiant, Rich Sclafani, is a heart warming story. Megan is an obstetrician and delivered Rich's first child just a couple weeks before. Megan had not yet found an officiant and it was an instant connection for them. Rich gladly accepted the role to marry them and incorporated the story into their ceremony.

Fellow Ballard native and uber talented designer Julie Borrud of Bella Rugosa transformed the Bathhouse with gorgeous pucca shell chandeliers, a lounge area with comfy day beds, coffee tables and tons of chunky bar candles and bright orange floral candles paired with BBJ Linens apple green bengaline table linens and fruitwood chivari chairs.

Organic caterer Herban Feast created a delicious summer menu featuring their signature sweet potato and dungeness crabcakes, summer caprese salad with heirloom tomatoes, couscous and wild salmon fillets that the chef grilled just outside the Bathhouse doors.

Rather than a traditional wedding cake Megan and Ian opted for strawberry rhubarb tarts made by Herban Feast that melted in your mouth.

Megan and Ian love Irish music so when it came time to find a band I looked no further than Kell's Pub in Post Alley where my husband and I like to grab a pint at. Ockham's Razor, Seattle's hard stompin' Irish folk band, is a regular at the pub and were the perfect match for the mood and energy of the wedding. From beautiful acoustic ballads to rocking songs everyone did a little jig to, they were a huge hit.

They had a young fan who couldn't get enough dancing!

Pretty in Pink Wedding

Mindy and Brian had an elegant summer wedding filled with Mindy's favorite color...PINK of course! We had fun planning details to incorporate the color keeping the look soft and romantic. My favorite was her perfect pink cake!

I was introduced to Mindy through my friend Laura Randall of Edit 1 Media. They were ER nurses at the same hospital and Laura was her mentor. It was important to Mindy that Laura film their beautiful wedding day.

Arctic Club Wedding

Melanie and Ryan were the first couple to have their wedding at the newly renovated Arctic Club Hotel this summer. The Arctic Club's dome room is a visually stunning and incredibly unique venue. The vintage ambiance and intricate detail is as if you stepped back in time. The cuisine and service is top notch and traveling guests can enjoy their beautiful suites.

My good friends, Joe & Jill captured the day and it was especially meaningful for them. Melanie was actually the doctor that delivered their adorable baby boy Andrew.

Teal & Raspberry Wedding

Heather and Mathew had an intimate wedding celebration with a color palate of teal, chocolate brown and raspberry. Teal is a color I love but had not incorporated into a wedding design before. It all started earlier this year when Heather found gorgeous teal taffeta bridesmaid dresses with chocolate sashes and so our quest began! The lovely and talented Alexa Johnson of Fiore Blossoms created lush raspberry bouquets for the girls and reception centerpeices of tall cylinders with submerged cymbidium orchids, river rock and floating candles. Lots of candles which danced off the teal lamour table linens paired with chocolate lamour pocket fold napkins, ivory lamour chair covers and a chocolate lamour sash. Home Garden Wedding

Margo and Clayton were married over Labor Day Weekend in Seattle. They are such a fun and laid back couple and I so enjoyed planning their beautiful outdoor wedding. Margo and Clayton love nature and were able to create their wedding celebration at a friend's private garden. The garden with all it's trails and lush greenery kept guests exploring. Family friends grew organic floral for the bouquets and decor. Each guest table featured small bud vases hand picked at thrift stores filled with an assortment of colorful flowers. Margo grew her own wheat grass for the escort cards and clayton built and painted the wooden direction signs. Seasoned in Seattle provided an abundance of fresh local dishes and Jen's Desserts created a gorgeous cake with whole raspberry filling. Guests devoured the Theo Chocolates truffle bar later in the evening then warmed themselves by the crackling fire pit in between jumping in and out of the vintage photo booth.

A Country Location Wedding

Lindsay and Jake were married over 4th of July weekend at A Country Location nestled in the peaceful town of Arlington, Washington. Lindsay is a close family friend and I was honored to help with her initial wedding plans. Unfortunately I was unable to attend the wedding day as I was traveling to Napa Valley to be a bridesmaid in another friend's wedding (more to blog on that one!). Get Hitched Give Hope

I am thrilled to share the news that myself along with a fabulous group of women have come together to throw Seattle's premier bridal giving event, Get Hitched Give Hope. A place where you can get gorgeous goods for your wedding by giving back. A swanky-cool cocktail party, the kind that gives you an excuse to buy new shoes, amazing appetizers, raffle and auction items donated from top wedding professionals, and jellybeans. LOTS of jellybeans. The venue of choice is the decadent Arctic Club Hotel in downtown Seattle. I planned the first wedding there in July and it was an amazing experience!

Vintage Beach Wedding

A follow up to my below post...Lyndsey and Matt were married at Semiahmoo Resort & Spa in Blaine, Washington on a gorgeous sunny day. I had so much fun with them and the talented vendors that made the wedding amazing. Lyndsey is my cousin through marriage and such a delight! She owns a funky antique store in downtown Bellingham, Penny Lane Antiques, and has such a great sense of style from her clothing to her cute cornflower blue house decorated with vintage flair. I started planning their wedding a little over a year ago and am excited to share photos compliments of Michele M. Waite Photography. I am in love with Michele's breath taking photography! (check out her blog as well)

To pull together Lyndsey's creativity and her abundance of antiques into the wedding, design genius, Steven Moore came on board. Steven is my idol! Everything he dreams up and creates is unique, stunning and above and beyond expectations. The tent was transformed into a colorful beach oasis with elements including a vintage red bicycle, large coy fish swimming in tall cylinders, coral, custom sewn damask and burlap table runners, a hand painted chandelier, vintage sea life note cards, an array of bursting red floral and Lyndsey's aqua blue antique vases. It was the whimsical beach wedding Lyndsey had dreamed of.

Thank you Matt and Lyndsey for letting me play a role in your wedding. Hope you had fun on your wine tour honeymoon in Napa Valley!

New Studio

Over the past couple of months I have been working away to open a studio. Myself along with uber talented planner Lisa Chambers moved into this funky loft in the heart of Ballard next to The Locks. We started with cement floors, white walls and fluorescent lighting (ugh!) and had fun transforming the space by incorporating both of our personalities and company colors. I have to give credit to our wonderful husbands for also spending weekends working up a sweat! Lisa and I are independent planners but love to collaborate on weddings when there is an opportunity so sharing a studio was a great fit. Our good friend Laurel McConnell stopped by last week for a visit and snapped a few pics. Hope you like it!

Megan & Ian engaged - All about Ballard

Megan and Ian are getting married this summer at Golden Gardens Bathhouse on the Puget Sound waterfront in Ballard. The area has significance for Megan and Ian since they met and live in Ballard. I am a native myself and spent many childhood summers at Golden Gardens Beach playing in the Bathouse before it became the event facility that it is today. The historic building has been immaculately restored and its exposed brick, tall ceilings and charm makes for a perfect laid back beach wedding.

Laurel McConnell (who also lives in Ballard by the way) shot their getting to know you shoot where else! They started the day at Golden Gardens with their two adorable dogs. How cute are they!

After the beach (and drying off from the Seattle rain) it was time to head inside for a round of pints at the Tractor Tavern...where Ian had proposed!

Megan and Ian love Ballard, music and their Irish heritage and we are going to embrace all by having a pub theme reception complete with local Irish folk band Ockham's Razor. It's going to be a party to remember!

Darcy & Matt engaged - Industrial Georgetown

Darcy and Matt are getting married this winter at Farm Kitchen, a private and serene Poulsbo venue that is an absolute favorite of mine and the ideal backdrop for the Green wedding we are planning. Think country rustic meets chic and modern with a Green twist.

The fabulous Laurel McConnell took them to industrial Georgetown for their getting to know you shoot while they visited Seattle last month for a whirlwind weekend. Laurel has such an eye for cool backdrops and details like the old train tracks and rain puddle. Darcy & Matt had fun being in front of the camera with serious then playful looks (oh and Matt's Led Zeppelin t-shirt rocks!).

Here are some pics of the day...

Darcy and Matt reside in the big apple and enjoy the bustling city but decided Seattle was the perfect choice to hold their intimate and eco-friendly affair, also being where they grew up. In New York Matt is a chef at acclaimed Mesa Grill, owned by celebrity chef Bobby Flay from the Food Network (Love his show...wish I could BBQ like that!) and Darcy is finishing her masters degree at NYU. They love living in the city, currently in Hell's Kitchen, and wanted their engagement shoot to have an urban feel since their wedding will play to their other love of the country.

Food is Matt's life so naturally the wedding menu will be the focal point. Without hesitation I took them to Herban Feast knowing their organic and local dishes would knock Matt's socks off...and they did! Especially the vegan gazpacho shooters and sundried tomato and olive crusted halibut. Yumm. Other Green elements will be the decor which will include organic flowers, plants, granny smith apples and soy candles against a palette of black, white and green.

Can't wait to share more after the big day!

Bridal Fitness Contest!

Sorry for the delay in blogging these days. Wedding season is starting and I have been a busy girl! I have a fun giveaway that I think will make up for my blog tardiness...

With summer fast approaching and in my fitness spirit (my own exercise bootcamp just ended and I LOVED it! Just signed up for another 4-weeks!) I want to offer one lucky bride a special opportunity to work with a personal trainer and nutritional coach before her big day.

Fitness Boot Camp...Day 1

Week 1 Update...
I made it through the first week! Yeah! I am hooked on this boot camp. I actually want to sign up for an additional four weeks after the first round. It is a great way to get motivated and have support from the trainer, Kimae Dolan, (who is fabulous!) and the other 20 plus women in the camp. I will write a final update after the camp is finished.

Day 1...
This morning marked my first day of a 4-week fitness boot camp and I wanted to share my experience with brides that may need some inspiration getting in shape before their wedding day. The program is through Seattle Weight Loss Boot Camp and is held at Greenlake on the lawn, rain or shine. This morning it was rain and mud! I have to say though that working out in those conditions is invigorating. You learn to ruff it and get your heart rate going. I feel energized and ready to make a positive change in my health.

My good friend Anne Griffith who is getting married this July inspired me to join with her. Anne is a fitness guru in her own right as a nutritionist and fitness coach. She offers her own version of a bridal boot camp but it is one-on-one with personalized meal plans and fitness training. Check out details at Northwest Influence & her blog.

I will send an update on Monday to let you all know if I survived my first week! At the end of the program I hope to have a success story to share.

My wedding season kicked off with Danell and James who got hitched yesterday on the warmest day of the year (so far)! Good karma was in their favor to let the sun shine and boy did it! I think it was up to the 80's. Their reception took place at The Canal, on the Ballard waterfront overlooking The Locks, a beautiful location. More detail to come once I have photos to share.

Seattle Green Festival is this weekend

While not wedding specific I wanted to share that there will be a Green Festival this weekend, April 12-13th, at the Convention Center and it sounds like a unique event to catch.

Here is some background on the show..."Named one of the top 10 green cities in the U.S. in 2005 by National Geographic’s The Green Guide, what better place to celebrate an urban community’s vision of green than Seattle? Led by the Office of Sustainability and the Environment, the City of Seattle is proud to co-host the first Green Festival in the Pacific Northwest."

Among the 350 vendors showcasing green living will be 3rd generation owned organic farm I Love Tiny. My hubby is close friends with the owners will be helping out at the show both days. They have the best apples and dried fruits I have tasted so if you stop by the show make sure to check them out!

Heather & Russell Engagement Shoot

Wanted to share fun engagement pics from one of my cute couples getting married this summer, Heather and Russell. Husband and wife photography team, Joe & Jill, took them to Gasworks Park near their house for the shoot along with their spunky bulldog puppy Stella. Heather and Russell had a blast doing their shoot and getting to know Joe and Jill. They used favorite photos for their save-the-date.

An engagement session is a great way to get comfortable in front of the camera and have fun with your photographer before the big day arrives. I highly recommend it!

Bellini Signature Drink

A signature drink that is both refreshing and elegant to tray pass before the ceremony or during cocktail hour is a bellini, made of prosecco sparkling wine and fresh fruit of your choice. I happen to prefer using peaches. If you choose to have a bellini skip the traditional champagne toast during dinner. Your guests will appreciate the bellini option early in the day and can toast later with a drink of their choice.

Peach Bellini Recipe
3 ounces prosecco sparkling wine.
2 ounces fresh peach puree.
Mix and serve in champagne flute.
Garnish with peach slice.
